Water quality is crucial for maintaining good health, as poor quality can lead to various illnesses. The City of Mesa has issued a letter regarding drinking and cooking water in its public water system.

Letter Regarding Water Quality
A notice was sent out to residents in Mesa, AZ in November 2024 regarding the drinking water. This notice contains important information for residents who drink and/or cook using water in that area. In addition to residents of the community, the letter also provides notice to apartments, nursing homes, schools, businesses, as well as parents served by childcare.

Identifying the Issue
The city of Mesa has been working to identify service line materials throughout the water system, and it has been determined that either a portion of, or the entire water pipe (service line) that connects a house, building, or other structure to the water main is made from an unknown material but may be lead.
Effects of drinking lead?
When water quality is compromised, it can cause serious health effects in all age groups. The effects of drinking lead in infants and children decrease IQ and attention span. Lead exposure can lead to new learning and behavior problems or worsen existing learning and behavior problems.
Children of women who are exposed to lead before or during pregnancy can have an increased risk of these negative health effects. Adults can have increased heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney, or nervous system problems.
Reducing Lead In Water
White Water offers Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems. The Reverse Osmosis system offered by White Water is available for purchase or lease.

How Does Reverse Osmosis Work?
Reverse osmosis systems are installed under the faucet and water is treated before it exits the tap. They remove 99% of all impurities, leaving nothing but pure water.
